Indigenous Employment

What is the Indigenous Employment Strategy?

The Macquarie University Indigenous Employment Strategy is aimed at increasing employment and training opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous) people across the University. Since 2001 we have offered jobs to over 30 Indigenous people, many of whom still work with the University.

According to the Enterprise Agreement 2006-09 "The University will take steps under its Indigenous Employment Strategy to recruit and retain Indigenous staff in Academic and General positions in all Divisions and Offices in proportion to the distribution of Indigenous people in the Australian community" (Clause 2.7.3b).
