Training Agreements between the University and trainees are registered under the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Act 1990.
The training is both on and off-the-job for up to 1 year involving formal instruction and supervised practice and leads to a qualification under the Australian Qualification Framework.
A trainee who does not complete the Traineeship or is not placed in subsequent employment with the University is not entitled to severance payments.

Commencing Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience:

Step 3
- Degree and Diploma of Education or equivalent and either a diploma in TESOL (e.g. Dip RSA, Grad Dip TESOL); or postgraduate diploma in applied linguistics, languages other than English (LOTE), multicultural education;
Step 2
- Degree and Diploma of Education or equivalent plus recognised TESOL certificate; or Degree and Diploma including LOTE/TESOL method;
Step 1
- Any Degree/Diploma (3 year minimum) plus recognised TESOL certificate; or any Degree/Diploma (3 year minimum) including LOTE/TESOL method; or
  other qualifications not provided for above and/or expected to acquire minimum TESOL qualifications.
  and
- 1 additional level for each year of full-time (or equivalent part-time service) TESOL teaching or equivalent;

1 additional level for each 2 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time service) teaching in other subjects including other languages, to a maximum of 3 levels.
